In the Words of James Brown – we were told to “Get up offa that thing”. And we did!
A series of walks took place across Andover and Romsey, when colleagues clocked up some steps and enjoyed some much needed time in the sunshine and fresh air.....
Did you know that 70% of our daily average of 9 hours of sitting time is at work? Research proves that by getting up and moving more, you’ll improve your wellbeing and productivity! It’s true and if you are not convinced, listen to Michael Mosley’s podcast, ‘Stand Up’ (available on BBC Sounds or by clicking here).
To help us move more, the Wellbeing Group have come up with some simple suggestions of how you can reduce your sitting time and move more as part of your working day:
· Make phone calls standing up
· Have standing or walking meetings
· Replace an email with getting up and talking to a colleague to discuss work.
· Use the stairs rather than the lift
· Ban lunch at your desk – go for a little walk.
So what are you waiting for......"Get up offa that thing"!
