Test Valley is marking this very important event with a range of offerings, so please do get involved if you can!
This years’ theme is, ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’. To help, we’ve organised a range of activities across the week:
Monday 13th May – Join Su Edmonds for an hours (approx.) walk, meeting at 1pm in reception at the Portway depot.
Tuesday 14th May – A free virtual Body Attack session at Andover Leisure Centre. Starting at 12.30pm, this 45-minute session is sure to get you moving.
Wednesday 15th May – Join Sammy Roberts with a choice of two times for a 25-minute walk, meeting in the FMC at 12.30pm and 1pm.
Thursday 16th May – Join Claire Ryan for a 30-minute (approx.) walk around Rooksbury Mill and the lakes, meeting at 12.15pm in Beech Hurst reception.
Friday 17th May – Another free instructor-led Yoga session. Starting at 12.30pm, for 45 minutes.
If you wish to join one of the walks, simply turn up at the allotted time (no booking required). Please be prompt so as not to be left behind.
For the fitness classes, please drop Amy Mosdell a line to confirm you’re coming along. No membership is needed, the receptionists will let you through the access gates. You’ll just need to sign a declaration on the day to confirm that you are happy to exercise.
And there's more!!........
Research shows that being kind to others is good for our mental health. So, as part of MHAW, please help us to put one of our new values, that of ‘Kindness’, into action.
You’ll find vouchers dotted around the buildings, for you to gift to a colleague, offering them a ‘Random Act of Kindness’. Maybe you could take them for a cuppa or buy them lunch. You could even offer some of your valuable time to mull over a work issue! There’s no gift too small!
And for our part, and to say thank you for all your hard work and dedication, there's an offering for you too, as a random act of kindness from the council! Keep an eye out for a little gift from us, dotted around the communal areas!
Gallantium – New mental health platform coming soon…………
We are pleased to tell you that Test Valley has been very fortunate in being offered 12-months access to a new mental health platform, called Gallantium. Developed by local resident, Andrew Greener, the platform offers a range of resources covering a variety of topics that may affect our mental wellbeing, from anxiety and depression, loneliness and isolation, to financial wellness.
It’s well worth a look! There are self-help vodcasts, guides, articles and case studies, all designed to help you improve your mental wellbeing.
So, watch out for an email dropping into your inbox soon. Sign-up is simple!
And if you have any feedback about the platform, Andrew and his team would really welcome any comments (good and bad), so feel free to share any thoughts with Amy Mosdell in HR, so that these can be fed back for future development.
